CFP: Sound in Film and Visual Media (8/1/03; collection)
Continuum Companion to Sound in Film and the Visual Media
(Continuum publishers)
This international volume, aiming to be published in 2004, seeks
contributions from people with an interest in field.
Some of the areas to be covered might include:
History of sound cinema -- different periods
New Technologies in cinema sound
multimedia and sound
pioneers of sound
composers
adverstising sound
Voice
Visual arts and sound
Voice Recording
Tape, CD & DVD
Film Genre and sound
etc
etc
etc
Chapters will likely be in the vicinity of 5,000 -- 10,000 words, depending
on scope of the chapter topic.
It is unlikely the book will include more than 30 chapters; total length of
book to be circa 300,000 words.
The book is contracted and contributors will be individually contracted by
Continuum.
This book seeks to be a major international volume on its subject, and to
offer key material for both teaching and research purposes.
Some contributors have already been approached.
The General Editor is Dr Graeme Harper, Director of the Centre for the
Creative and Performing Arts at the University of Wales, Bangor.
