Call for Papers: Writing and Social Awareness
This message is being cross-posted; please excuse duplication.
The Academic Exchange Quarterly is looking for articles for the Summer 2003
expanded issue, with a special section on WRTING AND SOCIAL AWARENESS.
In recent years, schools and communities across America have experienced
crises of various kinds, ranging from tragedies within the school to
occurences outside the classroom that afect the school community. All
teachers share a responsibility for helping students come to terms with
these events, but teachers involved in a "writing classroom" have aunique
stance. What are some of the ways a writing instructor can use the classroom
to promote constructive thought, discussion, awareness? What are some of the
special considerations an instructor must explore before delving into these
activities?
AEQ invites all teachers with experience in writing and responding to crises
in the classroom, whether positive or negative. Contributors are not
limited to Composition or Literature. AEQ is a print journal with over
23,000 readers, and the electronic version, available on the web, has
hundreds of thousands of potential readers. For more information and details
about submission to the 2003 special expanded issue, please visit the
