Call For Papers

Scholars are invited to submit completed papers for a collection of
essays tentatively titled Sex and Death in Eighteenth-Century
Literature.

The volume will address part of the needed discussion of the relation
between sex, death, history and eighteenth-century culture. This
collection seeks to expose the ways in which eighteenth-century
literature and culture contain the roots of the Victorian “celebration
of death” and how the literature of the period embodies the erotics of
the death bed scene, shows how sexual desire is masked by descriptions
of religious exultation or the desire for death, and displays a
preoccupation with the macabre. This interdisciplinary collection will
cover drama, poetry, and fiction of the age.

Submissions should be made to
Jolene Zigarovich, Ph.D.

Essays should be documented in MLA style and should be no longer than
6000 words. The works that are accepted must be submitted on diskette
in Word format. Deadline for submissions of completed manuscripts is
August 01, 2003. Inquiries only can be made at
