Fin de Siècle Seminar: Call for Papers
Fin de Siècle'is an interdisciplinary seminar series based at the University
of Oxford, which aims to develop fresh perspectives on the history of the
arts and sciences, ideas and society between 1870 and 1920. In the three
years since its inception, the series has provided a vibrant forum for both
graduates and established academics, hosting presentations on subjects as
diverse as the degenerate art of Alfred Kubin, myth-making in the formation
of modern Hebrew, the history of the hologram, and socialism and the cccult.
Fin de Siècle has attracted the notice of a broad community of researchers
both within and outside Oxford, who value its atmosphere of rigorous
scholarly discussion.
We currently invite papers from all subjects for the next academic year.
Papers may vary in length between thirty minutes and one hour. If you would
like to present your work, or to make further enquiries, please contact
Carol Peaker, Wolfson College, Oxford, OX2 6UD, tel.: 01865 284292, email:
carol.peaker_at_wolfson.ox.ac.uk. Proposals (of no more than 200 words) must be
received by 1 June, 2003.
