Call for Submissions for the 2004 issue

of the NORTH CAROLINA LITERARY REVIEW

The North Carolina Literary Review is an annual periodical that publishes
articles or essays about North Carolina literature, history, and culture. A
portion of each issue is open for developing proposals we find of particular
interest. Of these, interviews, solid historical explorations, current
cultural/literary analyses, or literary essays are of special interest to
our publication. NCLR also welcomes submissions of high-quality fiction and
poetry by NC writers.

NCLR's 2004 issue special feature topic has been changed! The new topic is
Ethnic North Carolina

Submissions for this issue might include (but are not limited to):
        * critical analyses of literature by or interviews with NC writers,
focusing on how their ethnicity influences their writing
        * original fiction and poetry focusing on the NC writer's ethnicity
        * interviews, articles, fiction, poetry by/about Jewish, Hispanic,
Latino, Native American (etc.) writers, literature, culture in North
Carolina
        * relevant (and NC-connected) art, photography, and suggestions for
books to review also welcome

2 copies of completed works due by August 15, 2003. Queries and detailed
proposals of papers are welcome before due-date and will receive editor's
response. All submissions and queries must be accompanied by a
self-addressed stamped envelope or an e-mail address for reply.

If you have any questions as to NCLR's format, consult back issues or our
website (www.ecu.edu/nclr), e-mail, or send a self addressed stamped
envelope to the address listed above. In short, use MLA format with
parenthetical references keyed to a Works Cited page. Upon acceptance, a
zip or compact-disk-copy or e-mail attachment of article, preferably in
Microsoft Word must be supplied to the journal.
