Lore: An E-journal for Teachers of Writing
is seeking submission for its next issue set to appear in early 2004. In
the current issue, the "Being Adjuncts" section features responses by
several Writing Program Administrators describing the ways in which they
try to make sure that their programs do not exploit or overtax adjunct
labor but instead strive to create spaces where adjuncts feel respected and

Now, it's time for adjuncts themselves to respond. Lore invites adjuncts
to read through the postings in the current issue and present their
thoughts. Do your institutions treat adjuncts in the ways described in
these articles? To what extent are these strategies effective? When it
comes to adjuncts, what can WPAs do to make better use of those precious
commodities of time and money? We invite adjuncts to write a short piece
(500 to 1000 words) that describes the explicit and concrete ways they feel
that WPAs can work within institutional constraints to create spaces where
