CFP: Teaching Tim O'Brien (1/15/04; collection)
Approaches to Teaching the Works of Tim O'Brien
Dear Colleagues:
We are beginning preparation of the above projected volume in MLA's
Approaches to Teaching World Literature series, and we would like as much
participation as possible.
If you teach O'Brien, we would very much appreciate it if you would respond
to a brief questionnaire. Please email your interest to Alex Vernon(contact
information below), and we will send you an electronic copy of the
questionnaire. Please return the form no later than 15 January 2004.
We are also interested in whether you would be willing to contribute an
essay to the volume. Like other similar books published by the MLA, this
one will contain not only a discussion of the most important and useful
materials available to the teacher of O'Brien's works but also a selection
of essays by instructors.
Essays in the printed Approaches volumes tend to run about 7-12 pages. In
typescript, then, the essays should run no more than 15 pages, and
preferably shorter than that. Ten typescript pages is a good target length.
If you are interested in contributing an essay, please submit a one-page
abstract/summary along with the completed questionnaire.
We would appreciate whatever help you can offer to this important project
and look forward to hearing from you.
Gratefully,
Alex Vernon, Hendrix College
