CALL FOR PAPERS

"Orson Welles and the Filming of Shakespeare"

Shakespeare Bulletin is seeking essays for a special edition of the
Shakespeare on Film Newsletter (which is published as part of SB) dedicated
to Orson Welles and Shakespeare. Essays can be on any aspect of Welles'
filmic work with Shakespeare.

This edition takes its impetus from the renewed interest in Welles's filmic
adaptations of Shakespeare that has been sparked by the recent DVD releases
of a restored Othello in 1999, of a Spanish edition of Chimes at Midnight in
2000, and of Macbeth in 2003; and by the 2001 republishing of Orson Welles
on Shakespeare: The W.P.A. and Mercury Theatre Playscripts (edited by
Richard France).

Please email essays (as attachments in Word format, using MLA referencing
conventions) of between 2500 and 6000 words to both Andrew Hartley
(sbeditor_at_westga.edu) and Kirk Melnikoff (kbmelnik_at_email.uncc.edu) by August
30th, 2004.
