CFP: Peer English: Open Call for Reviews (3/30/04; journal issue)
Due to an expansion of format the editors of Peer English (the University of Leicester's annual refereed English Journal) seek additional review essays (1000-3000 words) and review notices (approx 500 words) of books published in the field of English Studies since Jan 2003. Peer English embraces the full range of literatures published in English; theory; film; composition studies; drama and interdisciplinary approaches to the field of English Studies.
We welcome approaches offering reviews of books in any of these fields and would be particularly interested in additional reviews of recent scholarship in the Victorian or medieval periods. Contributors of full Review Essays (in-depth considerations of texts) will receive a complimentary copy of the forthcoming issue. Unfortunately, due to expense, we are unable to offer complimentary copies to the authors of review notices (short introductory notices to books) at this time, although we hope to rectify this situation shortly. Deadline for receipt of copy is the 30th of March 2004.
Please note: due to tightness of this expansion deadline the editors will be unable to source review copies for books not already owned or in the possession of potential contributors
To avoid replication of existing work or multiple reviews please contact Editor-in-Chief Kris Siefken on khs7_at_le.ac.uk in the first instance to express interest in submitting a review. Please include author's details, full book title and publication details, a brief synopsis of the book or field covered and, where applicable, reviewer's academic affiliation and publication history. We welcome contributions from doctoral candidates and independent scholars through to senior academics.
The editors will endeavour to reply to all enquiries about review contributions within 24hrs (allowing for time differences) and to give a firm decision within 48hrs.
