CFP: Storytelling and Healing (8/30/04; journal issue)
Storytelling, Self, Society: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Storytelling
Studies.
Call for Papers Special Issue: Storytelling and Healing.
Storytelling, Self, Society publishes scholarship on a wide variety of topics
pertaining to storytelling. The Spring 2005 issue on Storytelling and Healing
will publish papers dealing with issues involving storytelling, narrative,
health care, healing, and the implications of storytelling for enacting both
illness and wellness. We welcome manuscripts that give voice to both receivers
and providers of health care, to both tellers and listeners, and which
foreground either theory or practice. In addition to inviting articles from multiple
health care contexts, we encourage topics that address the role of
storytelling in both beginning of life and end of life issues of healing, as well as
perspectives that acknowledge the roles of gender, ethnicity, religion,
spirituality, alternative health care practices, or social power in describing the
effects of storytelling or story listening.
Completed manuscripts (not proposals) are requested. All manuscripts must be
submitted in electronic format, using Microsoft Word. Manuscripts received by
August 30, 2004, will be considered. Authors should e-mail manuscripts in
Microsoft Word, using the subject heading SSS Healing Story Submission, to the
special issue editor, Dr. Sunwolf, Department of Communication, Santa Clara
University, Santa Clara, California: sunwolf_at_scu.edu. For more information on
the journal and on submissions, visit www.fau.edu/storytelling/journal.htm
