TOPIC: The Poetry and Fiction of Raymond Carver (collection)

The editors of a collection of new critical essays on the work of
writer Raymond Carver seek contributions. Papers can address
Carver's poetry, prose, or both by using diverse scholarly and
critical viewpoints.
 
Raymond Carver's reputation and popularity have continued to
grow beyond his untimely death in 1988. In addition to being
one of the most important short story writers of the second half
of the twentieth century, Carver was concurrently a prolific and
award-winning poet. Moreover, he was an essayist, reviewer,
screenplay writer and dramatist. Carver's relevance continues
to grow.

We are looking for work that will compliment our current
manuscript consisting of Tess Gallagher, Randolph Runyon, Kirk
Nesset and others, and for fresh new critical perspectives that
will define the second generation of Carver scholars emerging
today. Essays which examine Carver's work from feminist,
working class, cultural, gender, or interdisciplinary perspectives,
or which establish connections between literature and other
disciplines are sought, and essays from international scholars are
especially welcome.

CRITERIA FOR ESSAYS:
Abstracts should be between 200-300 words; those who submit
exceptional abstracts will be invited to submit complete essays.

Completed essays (accompanied by an abstract) should be in
MLA format and not be longer than 8,000 words.

Include a brief biography with your abstract or essay.

Make sure to include all relevant contact information, such as
your permanent e-mail address, mailing address, and university
or professional affiliation.

Submit one copy, as an e-mail attached Word document, to
each of the editors, Robert Miltner (rmiltner_at_stark.kent.edu)
and Sandra Kleppe (sandra.lee.kleppe_at_hum.uit.no).
