Call for Submissions

Essays are sought for an anthology on any aspect of Trinh T. Minh-ha's work
as a literary theorist, poet, ethnographer, filmmaker, and musical composer.
Although Trinh's writing and filmmaking have been widely influential and
many scholars refer to her work in discussions of genre, feminist and
post-colonial theory, documentary, and ethnographic film, little systematic
study of her work exists, especially in comparison to scholarship on other
experimental authors. Submissions may examine issues of nationality and
alterity; connections between visual and verbal representation; Trinh's
relationship to social and cultural movements and theories, including but
not limited to multiculturalism, feminism, deconstruction, and post-colonial
theory; or may interweave personal/poetic forms and more traditional
academic/critical writing. Essays that shed light on interconnections
between Trinh's art, theory, and pedagogical practice, as well as essays on
pedagogy that examine Trinh's work in the context of Asian American studies
courses or film courses, for example, are especially welcome. Preliminary
inquiries, comments, and suggestions for contributors are also welcome.
Deadline for proposals is January 31, 2005. Send 500-word proposals and bio
to Joshua Fausty, Department of English, New Jersey City University, 2039
Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City, NJ 07305. Email submissions welcome:
