AMERICAN@ is a peer reviewed e-journal dedicated to American Cultural and
Literary Studies. It hopes to provide an intellectual canvas where the
cultural spaces and experiences of American Studies are theorized and
rigorously explored within both global and local contingencies of the present
and the past. A
MERICAN@ is accepting paper submissions for its Spring issue 2005. This issue
will have a special focus on Latino/a Cultural and Literary Sudies.
Papers are expected to deal with recent works by authors of Chicano, Puerto
Rican, Dominican, Cuban, and other Latin American descent as they contribute to
the development of Latino/a literature in the twenty-first century.
Contributions may also focus on one of the main subtopics below:

- Representations of Latino/a identities
- Rewriting the "mainstream" vs. writing from the mainstream
- Gender studies and Latino/a representation
- Rewriting American history
- The space of Latino/a literature in US Literature
- The development of a critical theory for Latino/a representation
- Formal qualities of new Latino/a cultural and literary expressions
- Redefining Latino historic memory and traditions

Please submit your original essays of 15 to 25 pages (4.000-7.000 words) and
abstract (300-400 words) via e-mail as an attached document (Word format, MLA
style) with the subject "AMERICAN@ Spring 2005" to: AMERICAN_at_inv.uhu.es
