CFP: Teaching the Language Arts in Kansas & Beyond (10/1/05; journal issue)
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Fall 2005 Issue Theme
>From Access to Assessment:
Teaching the Language Arts in Kansas & Beyond
submission deadline for the fall issue: October 1, 2005
Articles, essays, research studies, and revised conference presentations
are welcome for the Fall 2005 issue of Kansas English. Your writing
should address issues of access and assessment as they relate to student
ability, special needs, censorship, testing, college preparation, the
teaching of multicultural literature, and methods of assessment, such as
portfolio assessment. We encourage both empirical studies and essays on
the teaching of language arts in Kansas schools, including colleges and
universities. Topics can include working with students who have
disabilities, methods in the teaching of writing to prepare English
language learners (ESL), use of authentic assessment in the teaching of
writing, and the challenges of meeting No Child Left Behind guidelines.
Other forms of writing, including book reviews, interviews and poetry
are also welcome. Poetry submitted in the past to this publication has
proven to be some of the finest contemporary poetic work written by
English teachers. It is our desire to continue publishing more of the
same.
We invite submissions from English teachers from all over the Wheat
State and beyond, from all cultures and backgrounds, and from those who
teach at any grade level from pre-Kindergarten through Graduate school.
Inquiries and submissions may be send via email to one or both of the
editors:
