CFP: European Popular Culture (9/30/05; encyclopedia)
Authors are sought for a few remaining chapters of the Europe volume of the
Encyclopedia of World Popular Culture, a six-volume set under contract with
the Greenwood Publishing Group.
Each volume will consist of narrative chapters, similar in style and scope
to the individual entries in the "American Popular Culture through History"
series (also Greenwood). Starting with the onset of mass media culture
during the turn of the 19th to the 20th century, each essay should provide
an overview over its topic, covering all European countries. The average
length of entries will be between 12,500 and 13,000 words, including notes
and a resource guide. The submission deadline for completed essays is
September 30, 2005. Upon publication of the volume, Greenwood will pay
authors an honorarium.
The following chapters need assignments:
* Architecture
* Love, Sex & Marriage
* Sports
* Transportation & Travel
Interested authors should provide evidence of research background in their
