CFP: Popular Romance Fiction Collection (8/15/05; collection)
CALL FOR PAPERS: POPULAR ROMANCE FICTION COLLECTION
Proposals by 8/15/05; manuscripts by 10/15/05
Presenters from the Romance Fiction Panels of the 2004 and 2005 Southwest Texas Popular Culture Association and American Culture Association (SWTXPCA/ACA) are in the midst of negotiations with Cambridge Scholars Press, and the editors have shown an interest in publishing a volume of our work. The nucleus of the collection will be papers presented at the 2004 and 2005 SWTXPCA/ACA conferences, but we have room for several more essays. The initial organization of the collection is as follows:
I. Production
A. History/Marketing/International Sales
B. Series Romances and Specific Sub-Types
C. Writers’ Innovations
II. Consumption
A. Attacks and Defenses (uncovering ideology and diagnosing readers vs. arguments of empowerment)
B. Reading and Communities
C. Readers’ Negotiations
To submit, send either a one-page proposal or a full paper manuscript (up to 25 double-spaced pages) by August 15, 2005, identifying the section that you are targeting. Writers will be notified of their acceptance by August 31, 2005, and full manuscripts of all accepted proposals will then be due by October 15, 2005. Both hard-copy and electronic submissions are welcome. Address all proposals, manuscripts, and/or inquiries to:
