The SCIENCE FICTION/FANTASY Area of the Popular Culture Association =20
invites submissions for the:
PCA/ACA 2006 NATIONAL CONFERENCE
ATLANTA MARRIOTT MARQUIS,
ATLANTA, GEORGIA, APRIL 12-15, 2006
Deadline for submissions: 15 November 2005
The Science Fiction and Fantasy (SF/F) Area of PCA solicits papers, =20
paper proposals, and panel proposals from scholars interested in any =20
aspect of SF/F. Any disciplinary method or approach is welcome! =20
Studies on works from outside the United States are always welcome! =20
Proposals on film, television, multimedia and written works are =20
solicited.
Completed papers or 250-word abstracts or panel proposals may be sent =20=

The SF/F Areas also solicits proposals on the following specific themes:
=95 Battlestar Galactica:
This new groundbreaking television series, now in its second season, =20
is more than a simple remake: it is a re-invention. The SF/F area is =20
interested in organizing a series of panels on this new incarnation =20
of the cult phenomenon around the following themes: politics, =20
religion, technology, sociology/society, military/warfare, history, etc.

=95 Science Fiction musicals:
In the last few years, several sci-fi/fantasy television series have =20
made musicals, the most famous of which is Buffy's "Once More With =20
Feeling". There are also several productions of a "Lord of the Rings" =20=
stage musical in the works for 2006, notably in Toronto. The SF/F =20
area is interested in organizing one (1) panel on this strange hybrid =20=
and seemingly emerging phenomenon.
