CFP: Film Adaptation (11/1/05; PCA/ACA, 4/12/06-4/15/06)
FILM ADAPTATION CALL FOR PAPERS
for the 2006 Popular Culture Association (PCA)/ American Culture Association (ACA) conference in Atlanta, Georgia from April 12th to April 15th:
If you have an idea, I want to see it! Film Adaptation includes anything from adapted novels and short-stories to graphic novels, comic books, history, musicals, plays, poetry, biography, autobiography, legend, and more! Film adaptation is a rapidly growing area of scholarly interest and research as Hollywood continues to evolve film into a twenty-first century mythology--larger-than-life vibrant, dynamic images interpreting and reinterpreting the human condition--and like the mythology of the Greeks, Hollywood film mythology of the twenty-first century influences the audience and society greatly in terms of expectations on how to live life everyday with family to more complex issues with politics and religion....
Unusual ideas are always welcome--the 2005 conference had well-researched presentations as diverse as adaptations of ADAPTATION, the Charlie Kaufman film, to studies on Frankenstein, Harry Potter, Superhero/comics, classic literature, and much, much more!
Proposals invited for, but not limited to, the following areas of film adaptation:
-BIOPICS (Kevin Spacey's film on Bobby Darin, The Aviator, Ray, etc.)
-COMICS (Fantastic Four, Batman Begins, X-Men, Spiderman, The Punisher, Elektra, Catwoman, etc.)
-HISTORY (Alexander, etc.)
