Emotional Sin: The Seven Deadly Passions in Medieval Literature
Abstract Submission Deadline: 10 September, 2005
Abstracts are invited for 20 minute papers on the above subject to be
delivered at the Thirteenth International Medieval Congress in Leeds, UK,
10-13 July 2006. See www.leeds.ac.uk/imi/imc/imc2006/imc2006.htm for more

Possible topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
Passion and damnation in a specific medieval text
Medieval psychology on the subject of sin and emotion
Sinful gesture in medieval religious art
Etymology of "emotion," "sin," and "passion" and the terms' use in medieval
literature
Head versus heart in contrasting sin and virtue
Emotional restraint as response to seven deadly sin paradigm
Guilt as emotional consequence of sin
Please send a 250 word abstract plus a copy of your current CV to the
contact person below. Deadline for submissions is September 10, 2005.
Include complete contact information and any A.V. requirements you may have
for your presentation. Submissions from graduate students as well as
independent and established scholars are welcome.
