Abstracts are invited for the following panel:
Representing Technology and Violence. Batman, Violet Baudelaire, Patton,
Achilles: heroic figures use technology to battle violence. This panel is
intended as a forum for discussing the integral placement of violence and
technology in contemporary culture. Interdisciplinary approaches are
welcome, as are focused studies of literature, film, television or popular
culture. Suggested topics include: Westerns, Science Fiction, sitcoms,
