In her more general Call for Papers for the Society for the Study of =
Southern Literature conference, Rich=E9 Richardson writes, "the U.S. =
South remains a neglected topic in contemporary labor studies and, =
surprisingly, has not much factored into that field's theoretical =
discussions of empire and imperialism. Similarly, labor studies remains =
for the most part sorely neglected in southern studies. Yet southern =
literature has consistently and complexly engaged the theme of labor." =
The Eudora Welty Society invites submissions that will link Eudora Welty =
to this important discussion. Delta Wedding springs readily to mind, =
but many other Welty works addresses issues such as prison labor, =
domestic labor, and art as "labor." Her photographs suggest another =
treasure trove for this topic. Please see Dr. Richardson's more general =
