full name / name of organization:
Andrea Campbell

2006 Northeast Modern Language Association Conference
March 2-5, 2006
Philadelphia, PA

Update: Deadline Extended to September 22

Special Topic Session: Ecofeminism in Literature

This panel seeks papers that explore the relationship between women and the
environment as seen in literature. How/why have women been closely tied to
nature and what happens to them as a result of ecological destruction? The
possible consequences are explored by authors such as Jane Smiley, Ruth
Ozeki and Barbara Kingsolver who suggest that it is women who hold a special
relationship with the Earth and suffer more from efforts to control nature
through manipulation. Abstracts of no more than 500 words should be sent by
e-mail no later than September 22 to Andrea Campbell, Washington State
University (andreakcampbell_at_hotmail.com)
