Prof. Philip Tew (University of Northampton) and Steve Barfield =

of Westminster) are commissioning editors for an innovative new series =
for a
major international publisher, Continuum International.

For this series, the Continuum Handbooks for Literature and Culture, the
editors are currently seeking several established or emergent scholars =
to
serve as volume editors for each of the individual volumes in the first
tranche to be published. Each one will be 90-95,000 words and the =
editors
will have to co-ordinate and manage a number of contributory scholars =
whom
the volume editors will be responsible for selecting as contributors. =
The
editors may individual items themselves. =20

The three specific volumes for which editors are currently sought are =
those
on Shakespeare, 17th Century British Literature, and 18th Century =
British
Literature. It is anticipated that each volume will be edited by at =
least
two people. The editors are happy to receive both joint and individual
applications. The aim of these handbooks is to be both informed by =
research
and scholarship, and to serve as progressive introductions for =
undergraduate
students. The detailed format will be given to successful applicants. To
date seven other volumes in selected key areas have already been =
assigned.
Each volume will be published throughout the world with the full support =
of
the publishers.=20
