CFP: Confessional and Postconfessional American Poetry

I am organizing a panel on "Confessional and Postconfessional
American Poetry" for the upcoming 15th annual Kansas State University
Cultural Studies Conference on "Privacy" next March (March 9-11,
2006, in Manhattan, Kansas).

The panel seeks papers on poets who explore the psyche and the self,
childhood and adult traumas, experience and autobiography. I am also
interested in papers about poets who contest or mimic the concerns of
confessional poets.

Possible poets for consideration might include the classic
confessional poets such as Lowell, Plath, Sexton, Snodgrass, and
Berryman. The panel also hopes to include attention to more recent
personal or postconfessional poets such as Susan Hahn, Sharon Olds,
Louise Gluck, Robert Hass, James Tate, and Jonathan Holden.

If you are interested in participating in this panel, please send a 1-
page proposal for a fifteen-minute paper or presentation to Greg
Eiselein (eiselei_at_ksu.edu). Deadline: October 25.

Please feel free to share this invitation with colleagues and other
listservs.
