The Medieval area of the Popular Culture Association is now accepting
abstracts for the Thirty-Sixth National PCA Conference, April 12-16, 2006,
in Atlanta, GA.

We seek 15-20 minute papers on medieval popular culture, including for
example:

literature, laws, penitentials, music, saints' lives, oral traditions,
charms and
folk remedies, wall paintings, clothing and jewelry, and so forth;

*and*

on modern popular culture uses of medieval literature and history, for
example:
the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien, Umberto Eco or Connie Willis; comics**;
films like "A Knight's Tale" or "The 13th Warrior" or "Lord of the Rings";
revivals of mystery
plays; medieval re-enactments and renaissance faires, and so forth.

100-200 word abstracts are due November 1, 2004. Your abstract should be
sent to the National Area Chair:
