In recent years, the cultural and historical work of memory has been =20
of considerable interest to scholars working in all areas of the =20

This conference wishes to explore ways in which translation and cross-=20=

cultural exchange are both agents of, and obstacles to, processes of =20
memorialization. Topics the conference might cover include:

=C2=B7 Translation as a metaphor for memory
=C2=B7 Translating conflict
=C2=B7 Translation and national memory
=C2=B7 Translation, philology, the canon
=C2=B7 Memory, ethnography, translation

=C2=B7 Translating violence
=C2=B7 Translating the political
=C2=B7 Translating the visual
