Writing the Land: John Burroughs and His Legacy
June 5-9, 2006
The John Burroughs Nature Writing Conference & Seminar at
The State University of New York at Oneonta
The 2006 Burroughs Conference will focus on the work of nature writers =
who, as was the case with Burroughs, are linked closely to the landscape =
of a particular place or region. Papers are sought on topics such as the =
following:
=B7 Nature writing and bioregionalism
=B7 Regional or "local color" writers
=B7 The notion of the "genius loci" in literature
=B7 Literary environmentalists in any genre who are strongly associated =
with a particular place or region
=B7 "Back to the land" writers and/or works
This year's conference will also include panels/presentations for =
creative writers in any genre whose work reflects an interest in nature =
and the environment. Papers on any aspect of John Burroughs's life and =
career are also strongly encouraged.=20
