CFP: Arab Americans in the Arts Forum (12/15/05; 3/31/06)
The Arab American National Museum (AANM) is seeking proposals for
panels and papers to be presented at its Arab Americans in the Arts
Forum. The Forum will be held at the AANM in Dearborn, Michigan, March
31- April 2, 2006. Topics include Performing Arts: dance, theater and
music; Visual Arts: painting, photography, sculpture and calligraphy;
Media Arts: film and video; and Literature: poetry, fiction and
non-fiction. The purpose of the Forum is to generate dialogue among our
audiences and artists about the state of Arab American art-making and
to document the contributions of Arab Americans in the above mentioned
Please send a one-page abstract (250-300 word) for a 15-20 minute
presentation relating to Arab American arts historical development,
production, aesthetics, and/or identity. For panel proposals, please
submit panel title, presenters, and an abstract for each paper within
the panel. In your correspondence, please include your name, the title
of your presentation, an email and postal address, your occupation,
academic affiliation (if applicable), resume, and your A/V needs.
Presentation at the Forum is open to scholars, artists, and activists.
Selected papers will be invited to present at the Forum. Participants
will be offered a modest honorarium in addition to travel support.
Proceedings of the Forum may be published. Deadline for proposal
submission is December 15. You will be notified of acceptance by
