CFP: Periodical Comics and Cartoons (12/9/05; ALA, 5/25/06-5/28/06)
Research Society for American Periodicals
American Literature Association Conference
San Francisco, May 25-28, 2006
The Research Society for American Periodicals invites proposals for
session on "Periodicals Comics and Cartoons." In 2007 the RSAP's
journal, _American Periodicals_, will be publishing a special issue
on this subject. The panel invites proposals on any area of
periodical comics--including eighteenth-century political cartoons,
nineteenth-century illlustrated magazines, twentieth-century
newspaper comicstrips or serial comicbooks, and new twenty-first
century media and possibilities. The papers should consider the
difference a periodical/serial context makes to the comics and/or the
difference comics makes to the periodical form. Please send a one-
page (250-300 word) abstract and a one-page vita by email to Jared
Gardner at gardner.236_at_osu.edu by December 9th.
