full name / name of organization:

Extended Deadline:

Call for Submissions: Articles-in-Progress Workshop

Theatre History Symposium
2006 Mid-America Theatre Conference
Allerton-Crowne Plaza Hotel, Chicago
March 2-5, 2006

Proposals must be received by December 1, 2005.

This year the Theatre History Symposium is pleased to offer a workshop for
scholars with articles in progress. If you have an article you are
preparing to submit for publication and would like critical feedback and
advice from your peers as well as a journal editor, please prepare 1) a
timeline for completion and 2) a proposal as outlined below. Selections for
these workshops will be chosen based on overall clarity of the project and
time limitations for the conference itself. There will be no constraints
placed on subject matter for submissions. All submissions should receive
quality feedback, whether historical, theoretical, or pedagogical in method.

To submit a proposal, send a one-page abstract of the work in progress to
the Symposium co-chairs (addresses below) by the above deadline. If you are
selected for the workshop, a draft of the completed article will be required
no later than January 31. At that time, copies of your draft will be
circulated to the workshop facilitators and other participants in the
workshop. Facilitators for the Articles-in-progress Workshop will be Harry
Elam, former editor of Theatre Journal; Jonathan Chambers, editor of Theatre
Topics; and Rhona Justice-Malloy, editor of Theatre History Studies.

Additional notice: Special session on preparing the book proposal
This year's conference will also offer a special session with Series Editors
Robert Schanke and Don Wilmeth. Robert Schanke is currently Series Editor
for the Theatre in the Americas series for Southern Illinois University
Press. Don Wilmeth is currently Series Editor for the Palgrave Studies in
Theatre and Performance History and Culture for Palgrave Macmillan and is
the former Series Editor of the Studies in American Theatre and Drama series
