Stony Brook University=E2=80=99s Annual Graduate Conference, the longest ru=
nning=20
graduate conference in the country, focuses on incipient and ongoing resear=
ch
emerging from the graduate community. Held on our Manhattan campus, the=20
conference=E2=80=99s location reflects the vital, intellectual, and explora=
tory=20
atmosphere=20
that our past conferences have engendered. =20
We are pleased to announce that our keynote speaker will be H. Aram Veeser,=
=20
Ph.D., Associate Professor of the City College of New York, who will presen=
t=20
his work regarding Edward Said. =20
Because this conference addresses the variety of graduate experience and=20
interest, nationally as well as internationally, we invite submissions for=20
presentations, panels, and workshops that address any period or genre of li=
terary=20
study. =20
Possible areas of inquiry include, but are not limited to:=20
Race/Ethnicity/Multi-Culturalism
Critical Theory=20
Composition and Creative Writing
Philosophy and Rhetoric =20
Narrative=20
Cultural Studies=20
State of the Profession=20
Gender Studies and Sexuality
Nation/Class/Empire
World Literature =20
Medievalism/Early Modern Studies =20
Renaissance
Multi-Disciplinary Studies=20
While we are particularly interested in proposals that focus on the above=20
subjects, papers and panels that concern all aspects from the various field=
s=20
of =20
literary interest will be considered. =20
Individual presenters should submit a 250 word abstract; include your name,=
=20
complete mailing address, and email address. Proposals for panels should=20
include an abstract for each presenter, as well as names, addresses and ema=
il=20
addresses of all participants. Abstracts submitted as email attachments in=20
Word or Word Perfect are preferred but hard copies will also be accepted. =20=
=20
Presentations will be limited to 15-20 minutes. Please submit a 250-word
abstract no later than December 15, 2005 to: =20
