SHAKESPEARE BULLETIN, a journal for the study of Shakespeare and
renaissance drama in performance, announces a conference to be held on
the University of Toronto campus, November 8-12, 2006.

RENAISSANCE DRAMA IN ACTION will give scholars interested in performance
an opportunity to grapple with the practical realities of moving from
the page to the stage. The conference will consist of 2-3 featured
speakers and a series of workshops. Each workshop will focus on a
single scene from a play, one which exemplifies particular problems,
challenges, and/or rewards involved in staging renaissance drama. Each
workshop scene presentation will be followed by seminar-style
discussion. The conference will conclude with a fully staged theatrical
production of Ben Jonson's EVERY MAN OUT OF HIS HUMOUR. There are 3 ways
to participate: 1. Propose and lead a performance workshop 2.
Participate in a performance workshop. 3. Prepare, rehearse, and
perform a small part in Every Man out of His Humour

To receive updates re. registration, workshop proposals, workshop
participation, and anything else, please contact Jeremy Lopez:

please indicate interest early. A formal and more detailed call for
papers and participants will be posted to this list in December 2005.
