Faulkner and Twain
A Conference Sponsored by the Center for Faulkner Studies
Southeast Missouri State University

October 19-21, 2006
This =E2=80=9CFaulkner and Twain=E2=80=9D conference invites proposals for=20=
twenty-minute=20
papers on any topic related to Faulkner and/or Twain. All critical approac=
hes,=20
including theoretical and pedagogical, are welcomed, as well as papers on=20
special collections of Twain and Faulkner. We are particularly interested=20=
in=20
inter-textual approaches and papers treating such topics as the river, the=20
frontier, humor, race, and history. Proposals for organized panels are als=
o=20
encouraged.
In addition to the paper sessions, the conference will include a keynote=20
address by a noted scholar, a dramatic presentation based on the works of=20
Faulkner and Twain, exhibits from the university=E2=80=99s Faulkner and Twa=
in collections,=20
and an historic tour of the local area.
Expanded versions of papers dealing with both authors will be considered fo=
r=20
possible publication in a collection of essays. Southeast Missouri State=20
University Press has expressed an interest in such a collection.
