Hosted by the Departments of English and Social & Cultural Studies
Featuring Keynote Speaker: Maire Jaanus, Barnard College
Endnote Speaker TBA

This conference aims to explore the intersection between literature and
psychoanalysis and is interested in papers that address, but are not
limited to, the following topics:

ß critical race theory, gender studies, and psychoanalysis
ß Latina/o literature and psychoanalysis
ß African-American literature and psychoanalysis
ß Shakespearean studies and psychoanalysis
ß post-colonial studies and psychoanalysis
ß sexual difference and psychoanalysis
ß semiotics, film theory, and psychoanalysis
ß Lacanian interpretations, criticisms, and implications of literature
ß Freudian interpretations, criticisms, and implications of literature

Paper proposals should be no more than 300 words in English (a complete
paper is also welcome) and sent as a MS Word e-mail attachment to
<towhee_at_gmail.com> with the subject line "conference abstract" by Jan 18,
2006. Please include a current C.V. with the proposal. Limited travel
funds are available.
