The Elizabeth Madox Roberts Society will hold its VIII
Annual Conference
in Harrodsburg and Springfield (Saint Catharine College),
Kentucky--April 22-24, 2006. The conference headquarters
(site of the
opening banquet, keynote session, and annual business
meeting) is the
lovely and legendary Beaumont Inn, in historic Harrodsburg.
Academic
paper sessions will be held at Saint Catharine College, just
outside
Springfield, Roberts' hometown.

"Fan/tastic Visuals"
Panellists are being sought for a potential session to be submitted to
the 2006 International Conference on the Fantastic in the Arts (ICFA),
March 15-19 at the Wyndham Fort Lauderdale Airport Hotel, Ft.
Lauderdale, Florida. This panel will focus on fan art, photo
manipulation, video, web design, costuming, body modification, and other
visual methods of creativity/expression by speculative fiction fan
communities.
Acacia Group's 2006 Conference: Politicizing texts
The Acacia Group of California State University, Fullerton is seeking papers
for our 2006 conference to be held February 17 and 18, 2006. We are
interested in papers/presentations for the following suggested panel:
Power/Desire in Fiction
Is possession of power, or the possibility of wielding/using power affected
by desire? Do the powerful experience/fulfill/define desire? Do the powerful
depend on being desired, reject being the object of desire, or both?
We are accepting completed paper submissions only, no abstracts, please.
Creative writing/productions/performance contributions are encouraged to
