Call for Papers: "Changing Trends in Authorship"

A Graduate Student Conference presented by the graduate students of the
University of Rochester Department of English, Rochester, New York

March 3-4 2006

We invite submissions for presentations, panels, and workshops that address
any period or genre of literary study. Papers addressing any significant
literary and/or historical trend in authorship are welcome.

Some possibilities might include exploring the stakes in authorship, such
as:
- authorial choice to use pseudonyms or anonymity
- the social or political consequences of certain types of writing
- historical persecution of writers
- apologies and defenses of writing
- changes in writerly voice
- reading authorial biography into literary texts
- publication of life-writing (journals, letters, etc.)
- authors who push the boundaries of genre and other literary conventions
- texts authored by multiple writers
- the match or mismatch of form to content
- establishing authority and authenticity
- authorship of translated or heavily edited works

Abstracts submitted as email attachments in Word or Word Perfect are
preferred, but hard copies will also be accepted. Please submit a 250-word
abstract with pertinent contact information (including email address) by
