STONY BROOK UNIVERSITY
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK
Keynote Speaker: H. Aram Veeser, Ph.D.
______________
Stony Brook University?s Annual Graduate Conference, the longest running graduate conference in the country, focuses on incipient and ongoing research emerging from the graduate community. Held on our Manhattan campus at the corner of 28th Street and Park Avenue in Midtown, the conference?s location reflects the vital, intellectual, and exploratory atmosphere that our past conferences have engendered.

We are pleased to announce that our keynote speaker will be H. Aram Veeser, Ph.D., Associate Professor of the City College of New York, who will present his work regarding Edward Said.
Because this conference addresses the variety of graduate experience and interest, nationally as well as internationally, we invite submissions for presentations, panels, and workshops that address any period or genre of literary study.

Possible areas of inquiry include, but are not limited to:
Race/Ethnicity/Multi-Culturalism
Critical Theory
Composition and Creative Writing
Philosophy and Rhetoric
Narrative
Cultural Studies
State of the Profession
Gender Studies and Sexuality
Nation/Class/Empire
World Literature
Medievalism/Early Modern Studies
Renaissance
Multi-Disciplinary Studies

While we are particularly interested in proposals that focus on the above
subjects, papers and panels that concern all aspects from the various fields of
literary interest will be considered.

Individual presenters should submit a 250 word abstract; please include your name, academic affiliation and level of study/professional status, complete mailing address, and email address. Proposals for panels should include an abstract for each presenter, as well as names, academic affiliation and level of study/professional status, addresses and email contact, for all participants. Abstracts submitted as email attachments in Word or Word Perfect are preferred; hard copies are also welcome.
