UPDATE: CFP: European Silent Cinema (02/2006/2006; proposed edited
collection)
Submissions are invited for a book-length collection of essays relating to
European Silent Cinema.
The scope of this collection is intended to present an overview of key
features of European film in the silent era under thematic rubrics,
providing an introduction for students and scholars and opening up areas for
future research. Topics of investigation might include, but are not limited
to:
pioneers of national cinemas, audiences, stars, exhibition practices
(including music), genre, questions of gender and representation, visions of
modernity and tradition, and explorations of international mobility amongst
directors/actors/producers.
