Call for Papers: Media and Deviancy Anthology

I am seeking a few additional essays to round out an insightful
anthology pertaining to the topic of media and deviancy. More
specifically, I am looking for intriguing, theoretically informed
contributions that explore noteworthy representations of ?deviancy,?
broadly defined, in various media forms (e.g., film, television, the
Internet, newspapers, books, etc.) and pertaining to any historical
era. Submissions that explore media representations of deviancy in
relation to adolescence/adolescents, GLBT individuals or communities,
HIV/AIDS, and/or stars and celebrities are especially encouraged,
although essays pertaining to any aspect of media and popular culture
are welcome. Disciplines relevant to this project include
anthropology, communications, cultural studies, film studies, GLBT
studies, history, literature, media studies, popular culture,
sociology, television studies, and women?s studies.

Essay submissions should be typed (doubled spaced) using 12-point Times
font and one-inch margins on all sides. As a general rule, essays
following these format guidelines should fall between 15 to 25 pages,
although shorter or longer submissions will certainly be considered.
Any standard style of academic citation (APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.) is
acceptable for now, with the understanding that authors will eventually
have to conform their manuscripts to the citation style preferred by
the anthology?s publisher. To enable blind peer review, please include
your name, complete contact information (institutional affiliation,
snail-mail and e-mail addresses, daytime telephone number), and essay
title on a detachable cover sheet; with the exception of your essay
title, please do not repeat this information on your first page of text.

The submission deadline is a bit tight, as this project is moving
forward quickly. In order to be considered, completed essays must be
received no later than February 10, 2006. Please mail or e-mail one
copy of your completed essay to: Kylo-Patrick Hart, Chair, Department
of Communication Studies, Plymouth State University, 17 High Street,
MSC 60, Plymouth, NH 03264; krhart_at_plymouth.edu

For specific inquiries prior to submitting your essay, please contact
