CALL FOR PAPERS
Remnants, Remainders, and Reconceptualizations

Due to the nature of cultural production, both academic and creative,
it is inevitable that particular texts, objects, subjects, cultures,
and concepts will be marginalized or excluded, giving a confusing and
often contradictory cultural landscape to a coherence that is abstract
and problematic. How might we account for the remnants and remainders
that are scattered about our fields of inquiry? How might we begin to
reconceptualize these grounds?

We welcome a broad range of submissions including, but not limited to,
the following themes:

-recycling & rearticulating
-quilting, collage, bricolage, building
-states of exception / states of exemption
-binaries, thirds, excluded middles
-pastiche & parody
-deterritorializations and becomings
-DIY, zines, zine culture
-found art, found objects
-activism and activation
-rejects / cast-offs / cast-aways
-fragmentation
-leftovers, aftermaths, residues
-questioning the canon

Abstracts for both papers and works of art will be considered.
Abstracts should be a maximum of 250 words in length. All abstracts
and inquiries should be sent to <egsa.colloquium_at_gmail.com>. The
deadline for submissions is January 30th, 2006.
