(grad) (2/01/06; 4/7/06-4/8/06)

(dis)junctions; Lost in Translation (April 7-8, 2006)

This call for papers is for a proposed panel to be held at "(dis)junctions:
Lost in Translation," the University of California Riverside's 13th Annual
Humanities Graduate Conference. It will take place April 7-8, 2006. For
more information, visit the website:
http://www.english.ucr.edu/gsea/disjunctions.

Papers exploring non-traditional father/son relationships are requested for
a panel at this years disjunctions conference. Is fatherhood gender
specific? The movie "Transamerica" helps complicate complacent acceptance
of this fact. What is the role of the father in today's changing society?
Does the father still teach masculinity to his son? Are the sins of the
father visited upon the son? Other topics queering the father/son
relationship or, ones presenting alternative readings, will be considered.

Abstracts no longer than 250 words should be e-mailed to:
"Plrand25_at_hotmail.com" by February 1, 2006. Please put the text in the body
of the message, not as an attachment.
