The University of California, Riverside's annual (dis)junctions graduate
conference is extending the deadline for submissions from 2/10/06 to
2/28/06.

Graduate students of the University of California, Riverside, are seeking
papers for their 13th annual humanities conference, (dis)junctions. We are
interested in papers on nearly any topic, and this year we are particularly
interested in papers that span more than one discipline between the
humanities and social sciences. Some sample topic include
- studies of the intersection of art and literature
- single-author studies - how have individual critics (Foucault, Derrida,
Althusser, Lacan) been influencial across disciplines? How does theory
change as it moves from one discipline to another?
- defining the discipline - papers that deal with the borders of a
discipline (example: where does "postcolonial theory" stop and "minority
discourses" begin?) what are the advantages and disadvantages of the method=
s
by which we divide our disciplines?
- studies of space-time from a humanities perspective
- the effects of the debate over Darwinism and Intelligent design from
multi-disciplinary perspectives
- responses to Hurrican Katrina from sociological, psychological,
historical, scientific, rhetorical, and cultural studies perspectives
-pedagogy: teaching in response to Hurricane Katrina, teaching in the
multi-lingual classroom, teaching against traditional disciplines
-We are, of course, also interested in traditional genre and period-related
papers. (dis)junctions is a large conference, spanning a number of themes -
all topics are welcome!

Please email abstracts (250-300 words) to disjunctions_at_gmail.com. Also,
please note any A/V needs you may have - we can obtain VCRs, DVDs, and
projectors for laptops. Less standard equipment possible (although not
guaranteed) upon request.
