ROCKY MOUNTAIN MODERN LANGUAGE ASSOCATION CONFERENCE, Tucson, AZ, October
12-14, 2006.

Call for presenters for the Teaching Culture Panel

In today's multicultural American environment, it is imperative for college
instructors to integrate lessons which challenge our students to better
understand culture. To do so, we must seek innovative, fun, and creative
approaches toward doing so. How will we get our students engaged in
understanding culture, so that it is applicable to their lives outside of
the classroom? What are some of the lessons you use to engage your students
in considering and analyzing the ideas of culture? This panel seeks creative
yet critical approaches toward teaching culture in the classroom. We would
like to see equally creative and innovative presentations of those lessons
to the group, allowing attendees of this session to see and discuss your
lesson, review some handouts, view your PowerPoint presentations or even
look over sample student writing. Get creative. Have fun with it! Please
submit a 250-word abstract describing your presentation, what audio visual
aids you will need to present, and a short 100-word description of yourself.

Deadline for abstracts: March 1, 2006.

Those who have been accepted to this panel will be notified by March 15,
2006.

In order to present at this conference, those who are accepted must pay the
applicable RMMLA dues (by April 1) *AND* convention registration fee.
