For the MLA's Options for Teaching series, the Publications Committee has approved development of the volume Teaching Literature and Law, edited by Austin Sarat, Cathrine Frank, and Matthew Anderson. As currently projected, the volume has four sections: 1) theory and history of the Law and Literature movement, 2) model courses, 3) texts, and 4) resources. Submissions are welcome from faculty in diverse fields (i.e., literatures in English and other languages, law, art, film, history, philosophy, and the social sciences).

Topics may include but are not limited to the following:
Murder
Justice
Judgment
Confession
Censorship
Intellectual property
Literary trials
"Trials of the century"
International tribunals
Canonical literary and legal texts
Popular literary texts
Film
Performance art and other creative projects
Letters written by the incarcerated
Petitions for emancipation
