MLA Special Session: Periodicals in Romantic Edinburgh, 1802-1832
Call for proposals
I would like to put together a proposal for a Special Session at the
December 2006 meeting of the MLA Convention, in Philadelphia, on Periodicals
in Romantic Edinburgh, 1802-1832. I am organizing the session around the
three key moments of 1802 (the founding of the Edinburgh Review), 1817
(Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine) and 1832 (Chambers' Edinburgh Journal,
Tait's Edinburgh Magazine). I already have something on Blackwood's, so I am
looking for papers on the Edinburgh Review and the liberal periodicals that
sprang up around the Reform Bill, especially Chambers', but also Tait's
and/or the periodicals edited by Christian Johnstone.
If you are interested in participating please send me a brief (100-word)
proposal by March 10 at iduncan_at_BERKELEY.EDU.
