??Don?t Say Goodbye to the Pork Pie Hat?: Re ?Evaluating Larry
Neal?s Creative and Critical Vision of the Black Aesthetic,? an
international conference originally scheduled for February 10-12 of 2006 at
UNC-Chapel Hill, has been moved and re-scheduled. We are pleased to announce
that ?Don?t Say Goodbye to the Pork Pie Hat,? will now be hosted by
Brooklyn College from October 19-21, 2006.

The conference will be a landmark event in assessing the formative influence of
this artist, scholar, and cultural worker, and is intended as a critical
intervention into the project of black cultural studies. We welcome papers
addressing topics specific to the art, activism, and scholarship of Larry Neal,
and are particularly interested in analyses of Neal?s work that more broadly
examine the relationship between the Black Arts Movement and the formation of
contemporary black American cultural studies. Each session will be composed of
a moderator and/or respondent and three to four panelists whose presentations
will not exceed thirty minutes.

We are renewing the call for papers. Please send paper titles and abstracts to
the organizers at cmathes_at_duke.edu, by April 10, 2006.
