full name / name of organization:
Ms. Vanessa Raney
contact email:

Existing NeMLA members are eligible to propose panels for the 2007
Conference that will be held in Baltimore, MD. Non-members can still
join, though at a higher rate (see
http://www.acteva.com/booking.cfm?bevaid=99283). To propose a panel,
you need:

- a panel title
- a 250-500 word abstract
- a maximum 100-word descriptions

Once approved, you will have until Sept. 15, 2006 to collect abstracts.
Full panel info. would then be submitted to Elizabeth Abele, the new
Executive Director, by Oct. 1, 2006. Her e-mail is
Northeast.MLA_at_gmail.org.

Graduate students are especially encouraged to submit a panel proposal.
This will help them to gain professional experience on their CVs, which
will help them in the job market. Faculty, too, will find the NeMLA
convention collegial. Note, however, that only one other person from
the Chair's institution can be on the panel (the Chair, too, has the
option to present); all others must be from institutions not affiliated
with the Chair's college or university. Also: Paper sessions should
have 3-4 papers. Creative sessions should have 3-6 presenters.
Roundtables should have 3-6 participants. For the full duties of NeMLA
chairs and requirements for panels, please review:
