Coming off of an exceptionally successful conference in Philadelphia, the
GLBT Caucus is excitedly preparing for next year¹s 38th Annual NeMLA
conference in Baltimore, Maryland on March 1 ­ 4, 2007. But there is much
work to be done. The first part of these preparations is to create and
submit panel proposals to NeMLA. This is the most crucial period for the
GLBT caucus. Please consider joining us for the Baltimore conference, and
helping the GLBT Caucus continue to grow, by proposing a GLBT themed
panel, roundtable, or special session.

Here are some possible areas that you might consider developing a proposal
around:
 
* Lesbian Literature/ Film/ Television
* Gay Literature/ Film/ Television
* Bisexuality in Literature/ Film/ Television
* Transgender Identities in Literature/ Film/ Television
* The Future of LGBT Studies
* Queer Theory and Composition
* The Future of Queer Theory
* Queer Theory and Film Studies
* LGBT Archetypes in Literature and Popular Culture
* Studies of Gender and Homosexuality
* LGBT Disability Studies
* LGBT Pulp Fiction
* LGBT Autobiography/ Biography/ Diaries
 
As you can see, there are many possibilities, and all of the above topics
need further exploration.

Here is the process by which you can propose a panel, roundtable, or special
session to NeMLA:
 
* All proposals are due to NeMLA by April 15, 2006.
* You can submit a proposal on NeMLA¹s website:
http://www.nemla.org/proppanel.html
* All panel proposers must be current 2006 NEMLA members. Once the material
has been submitted, the Executive Director will include it in the June ³Call
for Papers,² a newsletter sent out to the entire NEMLA membership, and
posted on our website; the deadline for receipt of papers or abstracts is
September 15, 2006. No preselected panels will be accepted, and no more than
two panelists, including chair, may be from the same institution (unless
special permission is obtained in advance from the Executive Director). The
deadline for the panel chairs' submission of completed panels to the
Executive is October 1, 2006.
* To propose a panel, you need: a panel title, a 250-500 word abstract; and
a maximum 100-word description.
* A chair agrees to invite and review abstracts (deadline Sept. 15) and to
submit full panel information to the Executive Director by October 1. For
