What role does the unfinished (or unfinishable) text play in the history =
of modernism? Papers may examine works that are literally unfinished =
(e.g., Pound=92s Cantos, Charles Olson=92s Maximus Poems, Benjamin=92s =
Arcades Project, Gaudi=92s Sagrada Familia, Mahler=92s Tenth Symphony, =
Fitzgerald=92s The Last Tycoon, Kafka=92s Amerika, Satie=92s Messe des =
Pauvres), or metaphorically incomplete (e.g., Rauschenberg=92s =93Erased =
de Kooning,=94 Cage=92s indeterminate work, Queneau=92s =93Cent Mille =
Milliards de Po=E8mes,=94 or the various =93projects of modernism=94). =
Interdisciplinary papers or those dealing with visual arts, music or =
architecture are especially welcome.
