CFP: Honors Programs in the Two-Year College: Fit or Misfit (9/15/06; NEMLA, 3/1/07-3/4/07)
Proposal for NeMLA Community College round table
NeMLA: March 1-4, 2007, Baltimore
In a recent article in the Chronicle of Higher Education, Joshua Wyner, vice
president of programs at the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, argues that the
solution to the problem of "the inaccessibility of our nation's most
selective colleges and universities to low income students [....] lies
within the community colleges." More than one third of community colleges
now have honors programs which attract and cultivate the talents of
high-achieving students. This round-table will explore honors programs in
community colleges. Tell us about your program, your honors course, your
students. What is your community college doing to provide challenging
experiences for your best and brightest?
Abstracts and/or papers should be sent to Dan Schultz at Schultz_at_cayuga-
